Did the Romans know the secrets of Lismore Fields?
Is that how they came to explore Buxton.
And what happened to that Roman Road?
The Roman history of Bath is well known. There is though a lot of Roman history associated with Buxton. Buxton was well located being in the centre of Britain. Added to that the thermal water, it is little wonder that Buxton was of great interest to them. As fascinating as the Romans are though, the discoveries at Lismore Fields are even more incredible, showing that a community was busy at work in Buxton 4000 years before the Romans had even arrived.
Amazed?....Pass It On.
It was only while excavating to find what was believed to be the location of an old Roman road, that the astonishing 'find' that is Lismore Fields was discovered.
